The India Social Science Research Panel Discussion is being held on December 19, 2009 in New Delhi. The Panel Discussion is to have presentation of 15-20 best research entries for the IDRC SSRA 2009 Award. Based on the presentations, the session enters into discussion which among others examines the nature of emerging trends in Social Science Research in India across key thematic areas: Enhancing Food Security, Climate Change and Adaptation, Rural Innovation Systems, Equity in Health Systems, and Social Inclusion. The Panel Discussion will delve into the inter-disciplinary practices in Social Science Research in India, and the interdisciplinary practices that arise in the context of ‘Lab-to-Land’ real world applications. It also interrogates what constitutes theory and practice of social science research in the context of emerging inter-dynamics of research areas and emerging tools and methodologies.

The focus of the Panel Discussion shall range from the finely streamlined and empirical (research practices and results exemplifying one or more social science disciplines in India), to diverse multi-disciplinary and trans-disciplinary research practices, to perspectives on knowledge and research method.
